Wheeler School Student Union

Architect

Ann Beha Architects, Inc.

In 2007, Odeh Engineers worked with Ann Beha Architects to design this 10,000 sf connecting wing between two existing historic buildings.

Odeh helped select a cast-in-place concrete structural frame system to allow for the most flexibility in the design, with the fewest possible columns to interfere with the interior space. The concrete roof structure also provided an economical way to support a green roof, used to improve the sustainability of the project and as a demonstration space for student study.

Soon after its opening, the project was featured in Architectural Record Magazine and cited for its subtle transformation of the school community, and elegant solution to a difficult site.
