Vision 3

Demolition of the Fogarty Building made way for a new nine-story hotel building in the heart of the historic district of downtown Providence. The new building is comprised of 176 guest rooms (studio style and single bedroom with kitchen and living areas), a fitness center, small meeting rooms, and integrated off-street parking. The building also includes an attached, single-story retail space suited for restaurant use.

Odeh used the "Girder-Slab" system, consisting of composite steel beams with hollow core precast concrete planks, to design the hotel structure. Steel beams are hidden within the depth of the precast planks, minimizing floor-to-floor heights. The design also utilized a column grid that could take advantage of the large existing foundations on the site, thus reducing foundation and demolition costs.
