Odeh Engineers is a recognized leader in the application of computer technology and three dimensional building information modeling (BIM) in structural engineering.
We use this technology to improve the efficiency, accuracy, and accessibility of our work. Many firms employ BIM as simply a method of construction document production; at Odeh, we leverage all of the capabilities of BIM to:
BIM allows us to rapidly model several structural variations and work with the design team to select the best. Early BIM prototyping can also lower subcontractor costs due to improved documentations at bid time.
Integration with architectural and MEP models early in the design process can streamline integration between systems. Many of our projects are done with multiple disciplines modeled with BIM, which allows us to leverage advanced coordination features.
BIM can improve schedules due to better coordination between trades. Clash detection and coordination can reduce non-discretionary change orders that would otherwise come up during construction.
All of our staff members are fully trained in BIM technology and have direct project experience using this approach. Since 2006 we have completed over 300 projects using BIM, often in concert with architectural and MEP models for fully-integrated coordination.
Our BIM tool of choice is Autodesk Revit, and we have worked directly with Autodesk on several projects to help improve and enhance the software.
Odeh staff members are active in organizations and committees related to BIM standards. Our staff have been frequent speakers at national conferences, such as Autodesk University, the ASCE Structures Congress, and the ACEC Convocation.
Odeh Engineers' work on a residence hall for Mass College of Art and Design in Boston was featured by Autodesk as a Customer Success Story.
