Minuteman High School

Architect

Kaestle Boos

The new Minuteman Regional Vocational Technical High School serves 10 communities (Acton, Arlington, Belmont, Bolton, Concord, Dover, Lancaster, Lexington, Needham, and Stow) and was designed to accommodate 628 students.

The team designed an economical steel frame structural system to allow for clear spans and open spaces conducive to modern vocational education. Work was carefully coordinating using a shared building information model (BIM) to minimize clashes of different systems during construction.

The two story school building, with one level on grade, is comprised of a Life Sciences and Services Academy at one end of the building and an Engineering, Construction, and Trades Academy at the other end of the building. The central portion of the building houses a common cafeteria, gymnasium, auditorium, offices, and other miscellaneous spaces.
